Airbound raises $8.65M seed to scale autonomous drone logistics
“Bengaluru-based drone and autonomous logistics startup Airbound has secured $8.65 million in a seed funding round, led by Lachy Groom (co-founder of Physical Intelligence) with participation from Humba Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and senior executives from Tesla, Anduril and Ather Energy.
The company plans to deploy this capital to expand its drone manufacturing, accelerate its go-to-market pilot programmes (including healthcare and e-commerce logistics), and refine its vehicle design to drive down delivery cost targets to as low as ₹1. With India’s last-mile delivery market under pressure for cost and speed, Airbound’s fully autonomous aircraft aim to unlock new economics in logistics.
Given the strong investor backing and the ambitious cost-targets, this raise signals growing confidence in drone-logistics startups in India and underlines the strategic importance of automation in fast-delivery networks.”
