Megaliter Varunaa raises ₹15 crore seed round for urban water-reuse infrastructure

Hyderabad-based Megaliter Varunaa, a subsidiary of publicly listed Banka BioLoo Limited, has secured ₹15 crore in a seed funding round. The startup transforms sewage-treatment plants into operational “circular water utilities” under its flagship “Megaliter Model” — a zero-capex, subscription-based service offering for non-potable reuse (e.g., flushing, landscaping, cooling systems).

The capital will be deployed to accelerate project development, scale technology and operations across Indian metros (including Mumbai and Bengaluru), and strengthen contractual service-delivery capabilities. Megaliter Varunaa reports having treated over 3 billion litres of wastewater to date, with an eye on recycling 10 billion litres annually in the next 12 months.

This round underscores growing investor interest in climate-resilient infrastructure and urban utility models in India. As cities confront fresh-water scarcity and rising treatment-cost burdens, scalable service-models like Megaliter’s stand out as commercially and environmentally relevant.
