PeelON, a Bengaluru-based biotech startup developing a natural anti-spoilage coating that extends produce shelf life, has raised $1 million in seed funding led by growX Ventures. The company says the capital will be used to scale R&D, expand pilots with retailers, and deepen manufacturing for industrial deployment.

Founded to tackle food waste at the source, PeelON’s edible coating targets India’s fragmented cold-chain and perishables logistics. With fresh backing, the startup plans to accelerate commercialization across fresh-fruit suppliers and modern trade partners—positioning itself at the intersection of climate-tech and food security.
